Cristale returns with powerful new single & visual ‘Merryland’

“The fast-rising Brixton rapper, poet and artist is rightly garnering attention with her super-smooth flow and her uncompromisingly punchy lyrics” - Evening Standard

“Through her dynamic flow and clever punchlines -

Cristale brings a refreshing sound to the drill genre” - CLASH

“Cristale’s given us countless cold verses this year -

she’s exciting to say the least - her 2021 looks promising” - GRM Daily

Exciting young South London artist Cristale continues her hot streak with new single & accompanying video ‘Merryland’, out on 1st November via 4ZA.

Driven by her impassioned, hard-hitting vocal delivery, ‘Merryland’ is a powerful tour-de-force that’s steeped in reflection and propelled by a sparse drill beat. The accompanying official video sees Cristale showcasing her acerbic flow within the glitzy confines of a travelling funfair - a suitable metaphor for the unachievable nirvana explored in the track itself.

“‘Merryland’ itself is supposed to be a symbol for escapism,” Cristale explains. “It represents the ‘happy place’ that stereotypically exists in the mind of an individual and inaccessible levels of freedom in all categories.”

It follows the acclaimed track release ‘Morgan’, a freestyle that was crowned ‘Tune of the Week’ by BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter Nadia Jae and received further support from Snoochie Shy (1Xtra), Robert Bruce (Capital Xtra) and Ellie Prohan (Kiss). It also gained attention from the Evening Standard, where Cristale was described as “rightly garnering attention with her super-smooth flow and her uncompromisingly punchy lyrics”. Prior to that was her lauded ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle’, which drew support from DJ Target on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Continuing to grow with every release, ‘Merryland’ is the work of a young artist destined for the top. Follow her on @cristaleyy and @cylonline for more content!
