Mentoring is a fundamental part of our delivery which enables us to engage with each young person. CYL provides young people who come here with positive role-models who can provide advice, information, and guidance whilst helping them to plan for their future.
The formal mentoring programme includes one to one mentoring by; peers, celebrities, artists and media professionals with additional life-coaching sessions delivered by a professional life coach. As part of this unique service, we can provide the option to have a psychometric report completed, which advises the best ways to manage and communicate with an individual.
Sessions last up to 5 hours a day, one day per week for 12 – 36 weeks.
Peer mentoring takes place as part of our media course delivery. We also recognise that many young people may find it difficult to talk to adults and/or express themselves; which can be due to a lack of trust or feeling that older people do not understand them. That is why we pride ourselves on providing a safe space for all young people and embracing difference by championing that it is ok to be different.
CYL Youth mentors participate in the delivery of all our media courses alongside our professional tutors. CYL Mentors are enhanced DBS checked and trained to identify young people who may need additional support or safeguarding.
